בְּצֶ֥לֶם נִבְרֵאנוּ

A paraphrase of the story of creation from the book of Genesis. Skilfully combining black and blue India ink, Gabriel Wolff offers his interpretation of one of the underlying narratives of western civilisation. He says: “the original Hebrew words of Genesis are shrouded in mystery. ‘B’tselem’, the Hebrew word for ‘(in the) Image’, cannot be adequately translated. So I’ve decided to express it using the Hebrew letters themselves. For me, the idea that mankind was created in the image of God, contains an important key to understanding ourselves and our place in this world.”
